Oh mercy, how did we miss this?

You could have helped dear reader… you could have reminded us of this awesomeness :)

It seems that roller derby has been going on for quite some time in SF, yet it somehow was pushed to the darkest corners of my memory.

Anywhooo… serious looks like an action packed way to spend an evening in the city and this Fri-Sat there’s a killer two day tourney.

More from the San Francisco Bay Bombers website:

Round 1–2nd Annual Ann Calvello Cup Championship game at Kezar Pavillion @ 7:30PM in a back to back night doubleheaders to determine this years winners.

Also appearing both nights will be the Los Angeles Firebirds, Brooklyn Red Devils and Orando Thunder. Friday night the Firebirds will tangle with the Red Devils and Bombers vs the Orlando Thunder with the winners and losers battling it out for the championship and consolation games on Saturday [...]

I love roller derby but you linked to the wrong league. The photo you have posted is the Bay Area Derby Girls. http://www.bayareaderbygirls.com and they are indeed amazing. I’m a big fan and have gone to most of their bouts (they hold half of their bouts in the city at Forst Mason and the other half in the East Bay). the Bay Area Bombers are a banked track, co-ed league. No offense but I’d rather see hot chicks than a bunch of old dudes in spandex. :)
