Spare the Air

From Jennifer on behalf of the Air District:

As you may know, the Winter Spare the Air Season has begun and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District needs the help of Bay Area residents to spread the word about not burning wood when a Spare the Air Alert has been called. The season runs from November 1 through February 28, 2011. Wood smoke is a third of the Bay Area’s winter air pollution.

As a “thank you” to Bay Area residents who are helping to spread the word about Spare the Air, the Air District will be giving away iPads and Clipper Cards at the end of each month through February. To enter, simply “like” the Spare the Air, Bay Area Facebook page. If individuals are already a fan of the page, they are automatically entered. Fans will be the first to receive news when Spare the Air Alerts have been called, tips on how to spare the air, and hear stories about air quality and air pollution in the Bay Area. Help us spare the Bay Area’s air by encouraging people to become fans.

The prize schedule is:
November: 2 iPad’s
December: 1 iPad
January: 1 iPad
February: 4 Clipper Cards (worth $100 each)
