Yes indeed this is BIG number for 365inSF, which thus far has been an exploration of one thing to do in San Francisco every day of the year.

Sure, there’s been plenty shared here on a daily basis ranging from the spur of the moment to time honored local favs, but for the final 365 we figured why not point out one of the most obvious?

We know you’ve seen the signs around town, stored it in the back of your mind, or written it off to be ‘just another roadside distraction’ for tourists. But did you know that the 49 Mile Scenic Drive has been around since 1938? The drive has been changed several times over the years, but the one thing that has always remained is that it fully shows off some of the best sites in San Francisco.

So find any excuse you want. Don’t wait until you have friends or family in town to do it. Take the top down on the covertable or grab a Zipcar for the day, and Drive.

1906 Earthquake in San Francisco

It’s impossible to get a real sense of what it was like during the 1906 Quake and consequent fires that ravaged the city.

I mean even with all the recent news coverage we’ve seen from Japan, New Zealand, Haiti and other major earthquakes it all sound god awful frightening. But can you imagine such destruction in the early 1900s?

If you’re tired of going to wine tasting events, discovering great new wines and then never being able to find them again, San Francisco Vintners Market is for you. Similar to farmers markets, our event allows consumers to sample the wines on display and buy them on the spot. San Francisco Vintners Market is the first of its kind wine tasting and buying experience where wine enthusiasts can try and buy wines from up to 200 wineries. The spring San Francisco Vintners Market Spring Fling! at Fort Mason Center is April 9th and 10th. Many wineries will be bringing barrel samples for you to try too.

This thing to do in San Francisco is near and dear to our hearts.

Bakesales can be found not only in San Francisco, but all around the Bay Area and across the nation. Our editor pitched in support in creating a website for the event and if there’s one thing you can do in return for everything we have offered here throughought the last year, please give in support by either attending a Bakesale near you or donating directly online by clicking here.

What: A simultaneous national bakesale hosted at some of our favorite bakeries, restaurants, and other businesses featuring baked goods made by some of the most talented professional and amateur bakers around.

Where: At locations across the country!

When: Saturday, April 2nd from 10am-2pm

Who: Professional and amateur bakers, cooks, artists, artisans, and musicians coming together around food to make something BIG happen.

WonderCon rolls into Moscone Center South, April 1 through 3, with an incredible roster of comics’ greatest writers and artists as special guests and featured in spotlight panels throughout the weekend. The show’s programming schedule includes panels and previews from the comics industry’s biggest publishers, including DC, Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, Aspen, IDW, BOOM!, SLG, and many more. All of these publishers have booths in the giant Exhibit Hall, so you can visit and interact with them all weekend, plus shop in a pop culture paradise! The Guardsmen are taking over AT&T Park for an epic viewing party to watch the San Francisco Giant’s take on the Dodgers in Los Angeles for the 2011 baseball season opener. The game may be in LA but the party will be in San Francisco!

Enjoy a fantastic evening of Giants baseball with all profits going to support summer camp and private school scholarship programs for at-risk youth in the Bay Area.

How Weird Street Faire

“Mythical Realms” – the 12th annual How Weird Street Faire is on Sunday May 1, 2011 from Noon to 8pm at Howard and 2nd Streets in San Francisco.

Nine city blocks filled with nine stages of world-class electronic music, art and performances, vendors from around the world, tasty food and drinks, and all the colorful weirdness that San Francisco is famous for. All ages are welcome, and costumes are highly encouraged. $10 donation requested.

We invite you on a free walking Tree Tour of the Golden Gate Heights neighborhood, led by certified arborist Ellyn Shea. The two-hour loop will include 16th Avenue’s beautiful tiled stairway and other stairways featured in Adah Bakalinsky’s book, Stairway Walks in San Francisco. Come prepared to traverse many steps! Meet rain or shine at 16th Avenue and Moraga Street.
