Yes indeed this is BIG number for 365inSF, which thus far has been an exploration of one thing to do in San Francisco every day of the year.

Sure, there’s been plenty shared here on a daily basis ranging from the spur of the moment to time honored local favs, but for the final 365 we figured why not point out one of the most obvious?

We know you’ve seen the signs around town, stored it in the back of your mind, or written it off to be ‘just another roadside distraction’ for tourists. But did you know that the 49 Mile Scenic Drive has been around since 1938? The drive has been changed several times over the years, but the one thing that has always remained is that it fully shows off some of the best sites in San Francisco.

So find any excuse you want. Don’t wait until you have friends or family in town to do it. Take the top down on the covertable or grab a Zipcar for the day, and Drive.

49 Mile Scenic Drive (see map below)

Here are some interesting points along the drive that we have already touched on:

Civic Center

Asian Art Museum, SFMOMA, Legion of Honor, and de Young Museum

The Presidio

Great Highway

Golden Gate Park

Twin Peaks

The SF Giant’s AT&T Park

But it doesn’t end here. This is new beginning. If you’ve enjoyed what we’ve started here, you’re in for a real treat going forward – Stay tuned for news on that. We’re taking a little time to recreate the format, change it up a bit, and offer better content for your outings in the greatest city in the world.

Thanks to everyone who subscribed, participated, friended on Facebook, and helped out along the way of this year long journey. Talk soon

1906 Earthquake and Fire Walking Tour

Monday, April 4th at 10am (and then every first and third Monday of the month at 10am)

More from San Francisco City Guides found here:

Imagine awakening before dawn on April 18, 1906 to the unthinkable–a massive earthquake has toppled chimneys and buildings, and ripped apart city water pipes. With the fire on your heels, escape from the alleyways south of Market to what should be the safety of Union Square.

San Francisco Vintners Market is back with a spring showcase of top notch wineries selling their wines direct to you. If you’re tired of going to wine tasting events, discovering great new wines and then never being able to find them again, San Francisco Vintners Market is for you. Similar to farmers markets, our event allows consumers to sample the wines on display and buy them on the spot. San Francisco Vintners Market is the first of its kind wine tasting and buying experience where wine enthusiasts can try and buy wines from up to 200 wineries.
Bakesale for Japan

Saturday, April 2nd

The response from the several on and offline communities has been immense.

Bakesales can be found not only in San Francisco, but all around the Bay Area and across the nation. Our editor pitched in support in creating a website for the event and if there’s one thing you can do in return for everything we have offered here throughought the last year, please give in support by either attending a Bakesale near you or donating directly online by clicking here.

Thank you kindly ~ brad

More from this deliciously wonderful event can be found here: Bakesale for Japan

When: Saturday, April 2nd from 10am-2pm

Who: Professional and amateur bakers, cooks, artists, artisans, and musicians coming together around food to make something BIG happen.
